Jade Medical Group announces partnership with Apollo Medical Holdings from Southern California

(SAN FRANCISCO) Jade HealthCare Medical Group (Jade), a physician-based medical group primarily serving the Chinese community, announced a joint partnership with Apollo Medical Holdings, Inc. (ApolloMed), from Southern California to expand its service for 13,000 patient members.
The announcement was made at the Chinese Hospital in San Francisco Chinatown last week on April 27. The management team of four health care agencies, Jade, ApolloMed, Chinese Hospital and Chinese Community Health Plan (CCHP), were in attendance at the press event to provide more details of the agreement.
In 2015, a larger group of Chinese Americans doctors filed a civil lawsuit against Chinese Hospital and its for-profit health plan subsidiary, CCHP, related to the contract disagreement. The larger group of doctors then formed All American Medical Group (AAMG), a brand new physician-based medical group, serving the Chinese community in language. A smaller group of Chinese American doctors formed Jade in 2016.
For the past 5 years, Jade doctors have served CCHP patients in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. Dr. Gustin Ho, founding member and Board Chairman of Jade, said in the press conference, "As physicians, my colleagues and I created Jade out of our passion to treat and care for people. The partnership with Apollo allows us to focus more of our resources on patient care and less on the business and administrative aspects of managed health care."
Larry Loo, CEO of CCHP, applauded the partnership. "The mainstream system didn't serve the community very well. It is important for our community to have choices," said Loo who confirmed the new partnership would not affect any of the CCHP patients' health care coverage, instead the patients would have more physicians on the list.

Dr. Kenneth Sim, Executive Board Chairman of ApolloMed, stated they would work hard to recruit more younger generations of physicians to join the group to serve the patients in San Francisco and San Mateo Counties.
In July 2021, Sim held a press conference in Daly City on behalf of the leadership of AHMC Healthcare to announce the purchase of Seton Medical Center. AHMC, the Southern California based and largest Chinese American owned medical group in the nation, acquired the Seton Medical Center which was in deep financial troubles and facing closure.
9 months later, Sim returned to the San Francisco Bay Area to announce another investment in the healthcare system by reaching an agreement and partnership with Jade Medical Group.
Jian Zhang, CEO of the Chinese Hospital, believed there would be more collaboration between all four health care agencies in the future, including the partnership between Chinese Hospital and Seton Medical Center in Daly City.
