100% affordable housing Casa Adelante in Mission District welcomes new tenants

(SAN FRANCISCO) A grand opening celebration was held last week on June 2 at Casa Adelante, a 100% affordable housing development located at 2060 Folsom Street in the Mission District.
The site was once a 29,000-square-foot vacant parking lot which was transformed into a 160,000-square-foot and 9-story affordable housing development.
The 127-unit brand new affordable housing also becomes the permanent homes of families with diverse ethnic backgrounds. The development includes 29 homes designated for formerly homeless transitional-aged youth, 95 homes for low-income households, 11 units with accessibility features for people with impaired mobility and 3 units with features for people with impaired vision and/or hearing.

Casa Adelante Development represents a joint venture partnership as co-developers between Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) and Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC). The Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development (MOHCD) invested more than $31 million into the project through private funds.
“This project also demonstrates what can happen when two communities dream together. We at Chinatown CDC hope that this project will deepen the relationship between the Mission and Chinatown – two historic working-class immigrant communities in San Francisco that are stronger together than they are apart,” said Malcolm Yeung, Executive Director of CCDC.
