Annual affordable housing fair to be held in San Francisco on May 18, online classes on May 14 thru May 16

(SAN FRANCISCO) An annual affordable housing expo targeting tenants, current homeowners, and first-time homebuyers will be held from May 14 to May 18 in San Francisco with a series of online live classes on the evenings of May 14, 15, and 16 as well as a Resource Fair and Help Center on May 18, Saturday.
The annual housing expo is hosted and organized by Homeownership SF, a citywide collaborative of experienced, nonprofit housing service providers, acting as a centralized resource for affordable housing opportunities, foreclosure intervention, and homebuyer education and counseling.
Homeownership SF serves the San Francisco community with a goal to help diverse and underserved households access long-term, stable housing and connect with homebuyer assistance programs.
The expo is a free event to showcase the City’s affordable housing programs and provide information and resources for tenants, current homeowners, and first-time homebuyers.
Each year the housing expo attracts hundreds of low to moderate income residents seeking affordable housing opportunities in San Francisco, according to Homeownership SF.
The annual expo is also the largest annual affordable housing resource fair held in San Francisco.
The in-person Resource Fair and Help Center will be held on May 18, Saturday, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Leola M. Havard Early Education School, 1520 Oakdale Avenue at 3rd Street, in the Bayview neighborhood.
The Resource Fair will feature information booths with non-profit organizations, City agencies, and local real estate professionals to answer questions and provide program information for attendees.
At the Resource Fair, attendees can also stop by the Help Center to meet one on one with housing counselors, legal aids, or certified financial planners to discuss their individual challenges. Attendees are able to get connected with eviction defense services and City housing assistance or apply for the California Mortgage Relief Program.
Upcoming housing opportunities, housing services and assistance programs, and latest information from industry experts will be offered to the attendees at the Resources Fair.
Workshops will be available online on the evenings of May 14, 15 and 16, and presented by HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development and real estate professionals.
Workshop topics include rental and ownership Below Market Rate (BMR) Units, down payment assistance programs, San Francisco tenant rights, and home maintenance.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the expo and online classes by registering at bit.ly/2024HousingExpo or visiting Homeownership SF’s website at www.homeownershipsf.org.
Services and materials of the expo will be available in English, Chinese, Filipino, and Spanish.
