Kitman Chan re-elected as Chinese Hospital Board Chair

(SAN FRANCISCO) The 2022 Chinese Hospital Board of Trustees took the oath of office last week on January 26. Kitman Chan and Harvey Louie were re-elected by their fellow board members as the Chair and Vice-Chair of the board respectively.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the installation ceremony was held both inside the Chinese Hospital Conference Room and by the zoom meeting online.
“2021 continued to be an extremely challenging year, but I am proud that the board and management have worked closely together and made significant accomplishments,” said Chan in the swearing in ceremony.
Chan highlighted a number of accomplishments of 2021 in his speech. “The Chinese Hospital administered close to 50,000 vaccines, tested more than 33,000 people, and visited more than 30 single room occupancy (SRO) buildings in the community in 2021,” Chan stated.
The Chinese Hospital also provides education, testing, contact tracing,
quarantine, linkage of care and vaccination, as well as partners with the city’s Department of Public Health to offer COVID-19 testing at Portsmouth Square weekly.
“Chinatown community achieved 82% vaccination rate, and remains one of the areas with very low infection rate in the nation,” said Chan. “We were outperformed most of other similar community hospitals nationwide with a net profit in 2021.”
