Open Forum: An open letter to Sunset residents in regard to District 4 Supervisor election

Dear Sunset voters,
Natalie Gee is running for District 4 Supervisor in the June 2 election. She wants to represent you. But she also wanted to reverse the school board recall.
I led the school board recall, and I remember how hard Sunset residents fought for great schools. You overwhelmingly supported the school board recall in 2022. (Thank you.)
A full 82% of the Sunset voted to recall Gabriela Lopez… but in 2024, Natalie Gee said she wanted to put Lopez back on the school board.
You don’t have to take my word for it. You can see it for yourself on page 7 of her Harvey Milk Club questionnaire. (Gee was running for San Francisco Democratic Party Central Committee (DCCC) in 2024.)
Do you want a Supervisor who would have put Lopez back on the school board, something the Sunset overwhelmingly opposed?
Voters should also ask her positions on merit-based admissions and 8th grade algebra. While Gee hasn’t taken a public position on either of these, the available evidence suggests that she is against both.
First, in 2024 both of the school board candidates she supported (Lopez and Alida Fisher) were against merit-based admissions at Lowell and against bringing back algebra for 8th graders.
Second, for the last seven years, Gee has been Chief of Staff for Supervisor Walton… the supervisor who called Lowell’s admissions policy "racist" and was the only Supervisor to vote against the algebra measure. Chiefs of staff are usually very aligned with their Supervisors.
Taken together, these strongly suggest that Gee is against both merit-based admissions at Lowell, and giving 8th graders access to algebra.
If you – like most Sunset residents – are in favor of these, then you should know where she stands.
Does Gee agree with her boss that Lowell’s merit-based system is racist, or does she stand with Sunset residents who support merit-based admissions?
Where does Gee stand on algebra? Did she stand with Supervisor Walton, or did she stand with the Sunset, which overwhelmingly voted to bring algebra back?
In short — does she want the schools you want? Would she fight for you?
You deserve to know before you vote.
You deserve a Supervisor who will fight for you.
