3 candidates running as a team capture 3 top seats in San Francisco Community College Board race

(SAN FRANCISCO) Three candidates, Anita Martinez, Vick Chung and Susan Solomon, who were running as a team to challenge the incumbents, captured all top three seats in the San Francisco Community College Board race.
All three sitting trustees of the college board running for re-election were defeated. They are the long serving trustees of the San Francisco City College, including current President of the Board Brigitte Davila, John Rizzo and Thea Selby.
Retired Chinese American City College instructor Jill Yee, who was one of the candidates to challenge three incumbents, was in seventh place behind three incumbents.
San Francisco City College has been in a financial crisis for over a decade. Significant layoffs and class reduction have taken place in recent years. Voters' hope for changes is considered to be one of the key factors for the voters to elect new leaders at the City College.
Alan Wong, a Chinese American trustee elected to the Board in 2020, agreed with the situation and stated, "San Francisco voters have spoken about City College in the Prop. O and trustee elections: They do not approve of the performance of City College and are looking for a change in direction. They want leadership that provides good governance and accountability to the public. I pledge to work together with new trustees to provide the leadership the public expects for City College."
Anita Martinez has received the most votes in the election. She served as an instructor, union leader, and administrator with City College for 28 years. Susan Solomon, who ranked second, has been a leader at the union and served as a former President of the United Educator of San Francisco. Vick Chung served as a student trustee when she enrolled at City College.
