17-year-old Samoan youth killed in a shooting at public housing project in Visitacion Valley


(SAN FRANCISCO) A 17-year-old Samoan youth was killed in a shooting on Monday, August 1, inside the Sunnydale public housing project in Visitacion Valley.
“The case is under investigation. Our Homicide Detail investigators are still working on the motive of the murder,” said Captain Derrick Lew of Ingleside Police Station.
Lew said the victim was found outside on the street which was inside the public housing project area. No arrests have been made on the case.
According to San Francisco Police Department, on August 1, 2022 at approximately 5:04pm, Ingleside Station police officers responded to the unit block of Brookdale Avenue on a report of a person who was shot at that location.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a 17-year-old male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began rendering aid and paramedics from the Fire Department responded to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital where the victim was pronounced dead.
A week ago, an African American man was found dead with a gunshot wound at McLaren Park in Visitacion Valley on July 25 at approximately 12:09pm. Police released this week that two suspects were taken into custody on August 4 related to the homicide. Both suspects were identified as 34-year-old San Francisco resident Jerrell Wills and 34-year-old Contra Costa County resident Alexon Inocencio.
