T&T Supermarket, largest Asian grocery chain in Canada, announces to open at San Francisco City Center on Geary Blvd. in winter 2026

SAN FRANCISCO — T&T Supermarkets, the largest Asian grocery chain in Canada, announced the opening of a store in San Francisco's City Center in Winter 2016 as its fourth supermarket in the United States following two stores in the Seattle metro area and one store in San Jose.
The City Center, a shopping center located at 2675 Geary Blvd. and Masonic Avenue, is currently housed a Target store and a PetSmart store with a Trader Joe's grocery store across the street on Masonic Avenue. The shopping center is close to Japantown, Richmond and Pacific Heights neighborhoods.
"Another win for San Francisco," San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie said and welcomed T&T Supermarket coming to the City. "T&T Market, Canada's largest Asian grocer, is moving into the old Best Buy spot at the Masonic City Center filling a space that's been empty since 2017!"
"So City Center on Masonic is getting a great new tenant. I have friends texting me about this grocery store. They have incredible food. This is a big win for our city," said Lurie on Twitter.
T&T Supermarkets was founded in Vancouver in 1993 by Cindy and Jack Lee. They named the store after their two daughters, Tina & Tiffany. Cindy managed the store while Jack ran the import business. Cindy is an immigrant from Taiwan and managed the supermarket business until 2014 when Tina Lee took over the management as its CEO up to the present.

"Cindy left her first job as a bookkeeper and fell in love with selling fresh food. Being a mother, she knew exactly what other mothers needed. That’s why today T&T has a charming in-store kitchen and bakery that relieves the pressures of cooking every meal at home," Tina wrote on T&T's website.
T&T, which operates over 38 supermarkets across Canada and the United States, is headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, with offices in Toronto and Los Angeles. Its U.S. regional office opened in Los Angeles in 2024 to expand its operation in the nation.
The first T&T Supermarket in the U.S. opened in Bellevue, a suburb in the Seattle metro area in Washington State, on December 5, 2024. The second store is scheduled to be opened in summer this year in Lynwood, also in the Seattle metro area.
In December 2024, T&T announced its first store in California to be opened at the San Jose's Westgate Center on Saratoga Avenue in fall 2025. The San Jose is scheduled to open in early 2026.
With the latest announcement in March 2025, the City Center in San Francisco is the site for T&T's second store in California and fourth store in the United States. The San Francisco store is scheduled to open in winter 2026.

“The city offers a unique and eclectic food scene, and the neighborhood we’ve chosen is a vibrant retail hub. We’re looking forward to serving food-loving San Franciscans with our fresh foods, delicious meals, and baked goods," said Tina Lee in the announcement.
"I think our neighbors at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center and the University of San Francisco are going to discover this is a great spot for lunch or for bringing something tasty home after work. San Francisco is on the rise, and we’re excited to be part of its next chapter,” said Tina Lee.
In addition to traditional Asian food, the future T&T store in San Francisco will offer over 200 its own brand of food products including pork soup dumplings, green onion pancakes, seaweed snacks, and freshly-cooked and -baked fast food.
