Our Mission and Policy

Our Mission
Wind Newspaper is independently operated and published weekly in both English and Chinese languages as the only English/Chinese bilingual news publication serving in the San Francisco Bay Area in print edition and online, windnewspaper.com. Currently Wind Newspaper is the only English/Chinese bilingual news publication in the State of California.
Wind Newspaper was founded by Portia Li, a 40-year veteran journalist, and launched on September 1, 2020 in San Francisco during the pandemic. Portia lost her job in April 2020 as an investigative reporter at the World Journal, a national Chinese language daily newspaper in the United States, since 1986.
Wind Newspaper's operation is fully supported by independent advertising revenues and Portia's savings without any outside investment.
Portia started Wind Newspaper in 2020 with a mission to serve all members of the Chinese and Asian communities for free in print and online, keep them informed, and be the voice of the communities.
Wind Newspaper also serves as a platform for community members to openly express their opinions and share their thoughts on issues.
Our Policy
Wind Newspaper welcomes community members to submit their opinion pieces and Letters to the Editor at editors@windnewspaper.com. The selection of guest opinion pieces is primarily focusing on community issues.
The news coverage of Wind Newspaper is more on local issues. Accuracy and fairness is always the principal of Wind Newspaper to be an independent voice for the communities.
Corrections
Wind Newspaper implements a policy to correct errors of fact promptly, prominently and transparently. We will make corrections, clarifications, or updates in print and online based on the situation of errors. Please email any correction or clarification requests to editors@windnewspaper.com.
